A whole year gone by!

Can you believe that a whole year has gone by so quickly!
It's been a year of consolidating and heading towards change for many of our sisters and so much has happened to renew our batteries for the year to come.
Ideas are forming so stay posted for some up and coming exciting ideas that you may like to be part of!....

Autumn is upon us

As the weather turns colder we start to get ourselves ready for winter ahead. The gardens have been enjoying a feed of manure and worm wee and the chickens are finishing their moulting bringing in winter coats.
The bees are enclosing their swarm to stay warm during the cold snap reducing their army down and we are turning to soups and hot water bottles for comfort.
How blessed are we that we have food and shelter.
Get beds ready for broadbeans, climbing peas, brassicas like broccoli and cauli and
Kale. Happy winter planting :)

Growing your own vege's can be healthy in so many ways.  Someone once said that you can solve all the problems of the world in the garden and I believe that's almost true.
for starters you know where your food is coming from.  What has gone into the soil, what has touched the the produce and how it is processed.  You have control over every part of its sowing, growing and harvest.
Growing your own reduces driving miles and miles (known as food miles) which lessens the impact on the environment dramatically.
Saving seeds and replanting keeps us in control of our food, rather than multi corporates genetically modifying our seeds and having control over it.  This ensures that healthy un-modified nutritious food remains in the hands of the individual rather than a multi global organisation.  How scary would it be if we could only buy food from the supermarket and we had no control over how it was sown, grown or flown to us?

Growing veges also helps us to put our head where our hands are.  That is, slow down, get grounded and breathe.  Simple healthy techniques that can ease anxiety, stress and concern.
Personally, I find I can naturally connect spiritually when I'm in the garden pottering.  It gives me the space and time that I need to do that.  I hope you find the same space within your garden or that you can create one soon.

New Project - Vegie Patch

Facial reconstructions now on hold due to too much support!

Hi all,

Wow! Amazing things have happened since your effort and support to help us raise the $3000 we needed to contribute to giving one woman her dignity back through facial reconstruction surgery. There is now a waiting list for many many women that the surgeons will be kept busy for atleast 2 years!!!. Incredible what ordinary women can do for other women!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!

Recently I was at an info session by a group of women who were remaking old jewellery and selling them. The money was going to a cause I was told. While they unfolded their story, I realised that these were colour women!! Instantly I felt bonded to these sisters and in awe of what they were doing. Ordinary women doing extraordinary things for other women. AMAZING!!.

Although it was a little wet wild and windy at the Market on Sunday 2nd May it was a very successful day! Thanks so much to all those that supported us especially our friends and family (who supported the cupcakes very well!! :-). There will be some working off that will have to take place after that!
It was particularly wonderful to have so many men working for our colour cause and they were committed to helping women who have been affected by abuse and cruelty. Thank you wonderful men that helped and for all those that couldn't be there, your prayers, support and kind words are all appreciated!. Thanks for everyone who donated their time and money.
Next stop Frankston Market - look out for us Sunday June 20th. x

Sisters Encouragement

There has been a wonderful response so far to our 'beherdignity' fund raising. Many women have already donated gifts, money, time and prayer to the cause and we are looking forward to providing atleast one woman with a new face and new life.

We will be holding a stall at the Rosebud Market Sunday 2nd May to raise money for the "Be her dignity" campaign. Hope you can come or can contribute something to it.

The funds from this will go to reconstructing a womans face that has been mutilated by the LRA in Uganda.
